And guess what? I felt better in the morning!

Also, Friday seems to be Good News From Earlham day, because I found out when I got home from school that I get a renewable-for-four-years merit scholarship! It doesn't cover the majority of the tuition by any means, but it's very, very helpful and exciting. I feel great. And today I loaded up on outside scholarship applications in the guidance office.

I have great plans for tonight--Panera and "Shakespeare in Love."

I love the beginning of a weekend.

We watched a video on Willem de Kooning today in Painting. A lot of people whined (jokingly but with meaning behind the laughter) about having to watch it, but I found it fascinating. The video quality was low because the movie was so old, and de Kooning was difficult to understand, but I really like his paintings and his outlook. He calls his paintings glimpes and himself a "slipping glimpser." And he said something else that struck me. To paraphrase from memory: "Whatever your troubles, whatever you worry about the world for, what happens in the newspapers...that is the beginning, and it always sticks with me." And when you look at his paintings, you don't see that immediately, but I like knowing that it's there.
