The phrase "time is running out" has always seemed literal to me. I've changed my scholarship essay topic from Aung San Suu Kyi to gay marriage to the evils of puppy mills to The Hours to East of Eden. I should be writing about East of Eden instead of about the process of choosing East of Eden, but hey, it's just time.

There's something wrong with Wendy (the car). She's in the shop. It sounds like some sort of belt loose--running the car made a horrible ticking noise.

I went to the visitation for Dr. K tonight with my dad. I was really afraid it was going to be too awkward, but it wasn't. Actually, it's pretty selfish of me to worry about feeling awkward in the first place. We talked to her stepson (who was my student teacher last year in U.S. History) for awhile, then to Mrs. Gedney, who said with tears in her eyes "It isn't supposed to happen like this." She is exactly right.

It's so odd how the good and the bad both expand at once, how time is always stretching in a million directions.
